自然资源 & 生态学研究生简介

格里芬·阿坎博,2027届毕业生

“At a broad ecological scale, the two subjects that interest me the most are population dynamics — how 和 why wildlife populations change over time — 和 habitat selection — why species occupy the areas that they do. Narrowly, I am deeply fascinated by common loon site fidelity — returning to the same breeding territory year after year. 我的工作 as the re搜索 biologist at the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation 和 came to 普拉茨堡 with the goal of developing into a more well-rounded wildlife biologist. When not studying, my other passions include fitness, hiking, camping, snowboarding, kayaking 和 everything else that comes with the outdoors.”

马歇尔·安文,2024届毕业生

“在纽约州立大学普拉茨堡分校工作 尚普兰湖研究所, I am investigating the vertical distribution of zooplankton 和 other lower trophic 尚普兰湖的生物. Observed shifts in zooplankton abundance 和 biodiversity have occurred in the lake over the past few decades. 气候变化与入侵物种 introductions have altered food availability, water temperature, 和 predation risks 与尚普兰湖生物群有关. These factors can influence the vertical distribution of lower trophic organisms, affecting the structure of the lake food web.”

Meghan Bargabos, 2024届毕业生

“At 普拉茨堡, I’m able to take advantage of the outdoors as my classroom, 和 immerse myself in the fascinating 环境s nearby. My re搜索 primarily focuses on wildlife 和 forest ecology, looking at how wildlife respond to differences in forest structure 和 disturbance history at the Altona Flat Rock, an incredibly unique jack pine barrens 生态系统. I also teach a section of general ecology lab through a teaching assistantship, which has been a great experience that I feel I’ve gained a lot from. 当我不在的时候 in the field or in the classroom, I love to hike, ski, fish, 和 point out cool things 我看到外面.”
